ABOUT US

What’s the Story?

Tucked between landmark Art Deco buildings in one of Los Angeles’ most vibrant neighborhoods, the LINE Los Angeles pays tribute to Koreatown’s bright lights, bold food, and boundless energy — with room for downtime at the garden terrace pool.

A Los Angeles Hotel with Late-Night Energy

When the LINE LA — the first LINE concept — opened in 2014, it brought the brand’s now signature neighborhood-focused, design-forward approach to a Los Angeles neighborhood like no other: Koreatown.   Located in what was originally the Wilshire Plaza Hotel, a mid-century icon built in 1964, the LINE LA features 384 guest rooms and suites — all with floor-to-ceiling views. The hotel’s interiors nod to the neighborhood’s rich cultural past while also speaking to today’s Koreatown — a 24-hour destination with something new to discover on every corner. Brutalist architecture, sculptures and artwork by Henry Taylor, and raw concrete echo the bustling sidewalks below, where at any given hour, you can find a stiff martini, kimchi pancake, or al pastor tacos within a few short blocks.   Or stay in. Pick up a signature latte at Alfred Coffee to enjoy by the pool, head for brunch or dinner in our award-winning greenhouse restaurant, Openaire, then drop in for a nightcap and midnight karaoke (if that’s your thing) at one of three bar and lounge concepts.

At the Intersection of Culture and Community

Each LINE concept seeks to connect travelers to culturally rich neighborhoods and meaningful communities. The LINE LA started it all.

The hotel is only a few minutes from the Mid-Wilshire museums, Hollywood’s hot spots and historic restaurants, and the countless destinations in Downtown LA’s Arts District. Within walking distance, you’ll find red leather booths and Korean fried chicken at The Prince (an institution you’ll recognize from Mad Men), award-winning burgers at Cassell’s, and elevated cocktails at The Normandie Club. Here’s a curated list of LINE recommendations to inspire your visit.

The LINE LA’s bar and dining concepts also offer a distinct take on Koreatown’s distinct history and place, inviting guests and locals alike to settle in to swap LA lore, and then dance or karaoke the night away.

Designing a Hotel of — and for — the Neighborhood

The LINE LA is located in historic Koreatown, a neighborhood in central Los Angeles and near downtown LA, where Korean culture has thrived since the early 1930s. The blocks surrounding Wilshire Boulveard feature dozens of Art Deco buildings that now serve as home to the largest Korean population in the United States. Traverse the neighborhood to find H Mart, the renowned Korean supermarket, packed nightclubs, and all-night karaoke cafes. Tthe area is also a beloved destination for long weekend escapes, evening dinner plans, and after-hours outings. In Koreatown, the bowling alleys, bars, restaurants, and day spas stay awake as late as you do.

Inside the LINE LA, the design infuses local influences with a distinctly modern aesthetic, courtesy of interiors by Sean Knibb. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the surrounding neighborhood into every room while raw concrete nods to the city outside, bustling and alive at any hour.

Joining partner properties in San Francisco, DC, and Austin, the LINE LA is part of a hotel group dedicated to a self-assured sense of purpose and place — and the ways in which fully experiencing a city can redefine how we perceive the world. The LINE brand is part of Soho House & Co, Inc.

Dine In & Drink Up

The LINE approaches the art of taste with the same attention to detail as its interior design, architecture, and hospitality. From morning coffee to midnight dancing, the first hotel has five drink and dining spaces dedicated to good food and better conversation.

LA’s Alfred Coffee, located in the lobby, has breakfast and caffeine covered. In addition to its World-Famous Vanilla Latte, Alfred offers a full coffee menu, pastries, and takeaway breakfast treats. Grab a coffee and settle into one of the lobby chairs to people-watch or take a work call.

Openaire is one of the most unique dining experiences in Los Angeles. Housed in a lush, plant-filled greenhouse, it’s an invitation to connect with nature in the heart of the city. Stop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or — a Los Angeles favorite — weekend brunch.

Lobby Bar is the LINE’s reimagining of the classic hotel bar, where you’ll find only the good stuff. Stop in for all the classics, daily happy hour, and an unpretentious smattering of travelers and Koreatown locals posted up at the bar seat.

Break Room 86 takes its name from the 80s when brothers Mark and Jonnie Houston grew up right here in Koreatown. It’s a time warp of a bar where you’ll find guest DJs, nostalgic cocktails, and karaoke suites (yes — suites).

Last but not least, stop into Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, the disco-deco dreamscape made for dancing that melds 1970s glam with 1920s glamour.

The LINE LA also offers room service like no other— from the mind of a two-Michelin chef. Order breakfast, lunch, or dinner in bed every day of the week.

Across the boldly decorated guest rooms and suites, a continuity of art and design ties the hotel’s aesthetic to both the LINE brand and the surrounding neighborhood. THE LINE Philosophy: Neighborhood is Community.

While each LINE property differs in design, all are united in approach. We seek to complement each neighborhood’s unique history and architecture, connect guests to culturally rich experiences, and establish meaningful communities within our spaces. Emerging chefs, elevated bartenders, world-class designers, local creatives, and tasteful travelers flow through our spaces, bringing the neighborhood outside into the LINE and the LINE into the community.   Visit us next in Mid-Market, San Francisco, Adams Morgan, Washington, DC, and downtown Austin or at one of our sister properties, The Ned (NoMad, New York) and The Saguaro (Palm Springs).
